Two Step Beach

Two Step Beach Snorkeling

If you are looking for a great way to spend a day, look no further than Two Step Beach. Located just five miles from Kona Bayview Inn, Two Step Beach (Honaunau Bay) is a hot spot for snorkeling, swimming with dolphins or just relaxing in the sun. Take a right just before the entrance to Pu’uhanua O Honaunau (City of Refuge) and find a place to park for free on the side of the road, or you can pay $5 and use the parking lot.

Two Step Beach is a favorite location for many locals as a place to meet with friends, celebrate birthdays or just hang out and visit. If you are planning a day at Two Step, be sure to pack plenty of water and pupus (snacks). There are no stores at the beach so come prepared. There are port-o-potties but no showers. Closest showers are at Kealakekua Bay which is five miles north on Napo’opo’o Road.

Be sure to check out the ALOHA made of cinder blocks at the bottom of the bay. Jump in at the two steps and swim to the right and outward. The word is in a sanding area and easy to see. If you continue out into the deeper waters you have a chance of seeing spinner dolphins. Be sure to just observe them don’t try to chase or touch them.
